I woke up before dawn on a special morning with so many thoughts running through my mind.
Two days before I had done so many disgusting, sinful things; bad habits I have been trying to put off. And I felt so disgusted and sad, I became sober and been a Believer, I decided to make up with God.
I tried to pray but the guilt from my actions kept words from coming out of my mouth and I just sat there with thoughts running through my mind. So I decided that I was just going to study my Bible. I did that and then I felt strengthened enough to pray. I prayed and pleaded with God for mercy and asked him to cleanse me from my sins and help me stop these bad habits.
I stayed off social media a good number of hours that day to study God’s word, meditate and work.
The following day, I woke up from my sleep still feeling sober, I prayed a little but I felt it wasn’t enough. So I studied my Bible and then I felt strength to pray again and this time I prayed to my satisfaction, I worshiped God and even felt his presence.
Before I opened my Bible to study immediately I had said Amen, I used Psalm 119:130 to pray. I prayed;
Father it is written in your word that the entrance of your word gives light and understanding to the simple, I pray that as I study your word this morning, your light shall shine in me and I shall gain understanding in Jesus name Amen
After saying that prayer, I began to study the Scriptures. I came across Hebrews 12 and I began studying that chapter.
I gained a very important insight to the life of believers while meditating on that scripture and that is what I am sharing in this article 😊.
Are you ready to take a deep dive into the word with me???
As a believer you need to know that becoming born again is just the beginning of the race.
See Hebrews 12:1(NLT) 👇
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us
I am going to list out a few points that you need to become aware of as a Believer to be able to live a life of holiness! Let’s jump right into it🤩💃👇
- As a believer, you need to become aware that you are surrounded by a great cloud or witnesses!
- You have the power in you to lay aside every weight - weight here is simply anything that holds you down or limits your movement. There can be certain weights in your life that you must lay aside to be able to run the race God had set before you!
- You need to know that there is a race that is set before you that you are supposed to run!
- You need to know that there can be sin in your life that can cling so closely to you. You need to find out what that sin is, then you must lay it aside. If you do not, you will not be able to run the race that is set before you.
How Do You Run the Race that is Set Before You with Perseverance???
The Bible has answers to your questions, they are just hidden and you can find the answers by mediating on the word.
Perseverance has to do with endurance and patience. Meaning that you must run your race set before you with endurance and patience.
The definition of what this endurance or perseverance refers to can be seen in the life of Jesus!
Jesus kept looking or focusing on his race and the joy that was set before him by enduring all the hostility and shame.
Jesus had to bear all that life threw at him, all that he had to experience, without him losing hope or becoming weary or faint. Afterwards, Jesus was rewarded after he completed his race💃🤩
So how are you supposed to run your race with Perseverance???
- You need to focus on Jesus, just as Jesus focused on the joy that was set before him, you need to keep looking on Jesus. Why? Because Jesus is the Pioneer and the finisher of your faith.
So, as you lay aside the weight and sin in your life to run the race set before you with perseverance, you must keep looking/focusing on Jesus.
You can not run your race without focusing on Jesus. Focusing on Jesus is what will empower you to endure sin and not fall or endure persecution or whatever life throws at you.
How do you focus on Jesus???🤔🥰
The answer is simply by giving yourself to his word because the word of God is Jesus. (John 1)
Therefore by allowing Jesus to abide in you (John 15:4 NKJV). If his words abide in you, he will abide in you.
So you must have the word of God in you in abundance (Colossians 3:16), that is the only way you can live for Jesus! (Joshua 1:8).
After Becoming Born Again, What’s Next???
This point I am explaining in this section is very important for Believers to know. If you do not know this, you will continue to become weary and tired when you sin against God and God corrects you😊.
Reference: Hebrews 12:5–11
After you become born again, yes you become a new creature!💃I’m sure you know that. But what’s next? Is that end of it? Absolutely not.
You get signed up for God’s training 😬 which you must pass to live a life of holiness! Yeah you heard me right. When you become born again, after God receives you, you get signed up for his discipline or training which yields the fruits of righteousness and gives you the right to share in his holiness!
Yes I was as surprised as you are when I saw it or should I say, when God revealed it to me via his scriptures in Hebrews 12:5–11
You as a daughter or son of God will be disciplined by God. But he urges us that when he disciplines you, it only proves that he loves you🥰 and he has received you.
Now you must endure the discipline of God because it is not pleasurable, it is infact painful 😬 yeahhh
The discipline of God would mean that you have to deny yourself or certain worldly sinful pleasure. In so doing, it can be difficult or painful but you must endure to the end because that is what will bring your harvest of Righteousness!!!💃
I will conclude with this section 👇😊❤️
Why does God Discipline us?
God disciplines us so that we may share in his holiness. So do you want to share in God’s holiness? Then you must endure his discipline.
God’s discipline is his training over your life!😃 God trains you as his son😊 So when you give your life to Christ, God receives you but after he receives you, that is not the end.
He will chastise you and discipline you. Your natural instinct would be to become tired, weary or faint but since you are now aware of this knowledge, prepare your mind to endure when God disciplines you as that is your training!😃.
The only way you can endure this discipline is by focusing on Jesus and the fact that afterwards you will share in God’s holiness!
You must pass through that training of God before you can share in his holiness ❤️😊
If you have read to the end of this article, I join my faith with yours and I pray that we will be able to endure God’s training over our lives as his children in Jesus mighty name Amen.
